which alters when it alteration finds

Andressa Soares e Marlboro:
Andressa Soares e Marlboro
Oh yeah, life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.
John Cougar Mellencamp.

Last year Andressa was briefly notorious as 'Mulher Melancia' (Watermelon Woman) dancing the Créu down in Rio de Janeiro, since then there has been some lipo apparently. No idea who Marlboro is, but his expression seems ambivalent in this photo, to me at least.

Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

What you know

1500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe.

500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat.

And 15 minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet.

Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow..........Agent K - Men in Black.

the moon is cold and lifeless
does it contain the great heart of compassion and wisdom
even though there is no one to love or be wizened?

There is no religion on the moon

Think about it

......................Globalove Think Tank priorities........................

Overpopulation......get the church behind birth control, provide it for free.....and reduce abortions.

Environment......we are poisoning everything......earth, wind, and water.

Education.....ignorance is our original sin.

Energy......the sun gives us everything......heat, light, wind and life.

Food......look at all the warehouses and tell me why even one should starve.

Healthcare.......is too costly because like education it's a costly investment and should be a non-profit endeavor.

Capitalism.......is a money machine that will eat you alive.....if you let it.

Industry......should be divided into: profit for luxuries.......non-profit for necessities.

Morality......you can't legislate morality......teach the golden rule.

Religion......freedom means the freedom to believe what you want.

Government......should be the "good" big brother......not the "bad" big brother.

Let me know if I've forgotten one......and I'll add it.

Man's primitive urges will never disappear.

For reason alone

Jean Pictet, in his commentary on The Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross points out the universal characteristics of humanitarianism:

The wellspring of the principle of humanity is in the essence of social morality which can be summed up in a single sentence, "Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." This fundamental precept can be found, in almost identical form, in all the great religions, Brahminism, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Taoism. It is also the golden rule of the positivists, who do not commit themselves to any religion but only to the data of experience, in the name of reason alone.
"…The civilization now in jeopardy is all humanity. As the ancient myth makers knew, we are children equally of the earth and sky. In our tenure of this planet, we have accumulated dangerous, evolutionary baggage -- propensities for aggression and ritual, submission to leaders, hostility to outsiders, all of which puts our survival in some doubt. We have also acquired compassion for others, love for our children, a desire to learn from history and experience, and a great, soaring passionate intelligence -- the clear tools for our continued survival and prosperity."

V for Vendetta

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate.

This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified.

However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

I accept responsibility

I willingly take personal responsibility for every single person on this planet.......Oberon.

It's time to change the world

I know how to change the world.

Mahatma Gandhi changed the world...........
..............with non-violent, non-cooperation, non-participation.

It could work for us too.

The Way of Peace

Though God may be Love......God is Truth above all.......even the atheists.......who have pretended to disbelieve in God......have believed in Truth.......Mahatma Gandhi.

Today's world requires us to accept the oneness of humanity. Within the context of our new interdependence, self-interest clearly lies in considering the interest of others. Many of the world's problems and conflicts arise because we have lost sight of the basic humanity that binds us all together as a human family.
Nearly all of us receive our first lessons in peaceful living from our mothers, because the need for love lies at the very foundation of human existence. Peaceful living is about trusting those on whom we depend and caring for those who depend on us.
I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the principal source of success in life. The key is to develop inner peace.
When you recognize that all beings are equal and like yourself in both their desire for happiness and their right to obtain it, you automatically feel empathy and closeness for them. Therefore, a truly compassionate attitude towards others does not change even if they behave negatively.
I believe that we must consciously develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. We must learn to work not just for our own individual self, family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind. Universal responsibility is the best foundation both for our personal happiness and for world peace, the equitable use of our natural resources, and, through a concern for future generations, the proper care for the environment.

The Art of Peace begins with you.......it is medicine for a sick world.......foster peace in your own life.......then apply the Art to all that you encounter.......Morihei Ueshiba.

shifting paradigms

recognizing that the survival of sentient beings depends more on the spirit of female compassion and nurturing ~ than on male dominance and aggression ~ recognizing that the ability to understand and use language is the gift that bestows the greatest chances for our continued existence ~ and that the first language we learn comes from the beating heart of our mother ~ like a metronome, that sets the tempo for an orchestra ~ it creates the rhythm we follow to connect with one another throughout life ~ and these are the connections that, I believe, we depend on for sustenance ~ more so than the myth of the rugged individualist ~ let the shift begin.

Ten to the One Hundredth Power

I have submitted an entry to Google "Project 10 to the 100" contest and we are all in it together. The following is my mission statement to Google entitled "A mothers' love" inspired by a speech from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

"A Mothers' Love"

Instead of the Orwellian nightmare that is our world today......we could have something else.......we can do better.......we deserve GlobaLove Inc.

The purpose of GlobaLove Inc...... is to initiate a global paradigm shift towards the "Star Trek" world. A world where money is not necessary to "survive", a world where food, shelter, education and healthcare is a non-profit endeavor and the right of every human on the planet........a world where profit is no longer the primary goal.

It is possible to eliminate all poverty and starvation, everything is free. What that means is that if we choose to, we could move to a higher level of community by working for ourselves and the group, like a union, a union of earth people......if you're a human, you belong to the union. This union of earthlings will insure the basic human rights to food for the prevention of starvation, shelter to eliminate homelessness, education to lift us into the realm of awareness, and basic healthcare to sustain us in our difficult journey through human existance........a mothers' love. GlobaLove Incorporated will serve as The Human Union....a mothers' assurance of love for all of earths' children. The Human Union......you are a member.......everyone is a member.

I know there are many wonderful organizations that provide much needed aid to the many poor and starving unfortunate of the world but......with an estimated 30,000 people starving to death every single day.......we will have to create a union that agrees to the basic human rights that we all deserve and works to link all global aid efforts. With starvation being our primary concern, the many innocents who want only for a mouth full of food to survive will be first on our list.

GlobaLove Inc. has created GlobaLove Think Tank......we intend to create a brainstorm by linking as many minds together as we can to identify creative actions that will cascade into an unstoppable force......to initiate "Paradigm Shift."

The "Paradigm Shift" would be the optimal outcome......from the "every man for himself" world to the "one for all, all for one" world of the Three Musketeers. Of course I don't expect that to happen overnight but, if we can begin the process, the journey will begin. The primary goal is getting food to starving mouths, then we'll work on housing, education and healthcare. I would have to say that measuring our success would be reflected in how many hungry mouths we feed, how many people we can save from dying of starvation. Like a mother' love, GlobaLove Inc. wants to give what is needed......love and life. Remember your mother.......she bore you......cared for you......loved you.

Jabberwocky

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

.....Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll.....

Love the sinner

Hate the sin......love the sinner.......Mahatma Gandhi.

Deadline

Good day ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls.
Citizens of the world all.
You know, we humans have lived on this planet now, depending on your viewpoint, for a number of years.
Compared to the long extinct dinosaur we have been around for only minutes but hey, the dinosaur is dead and besides, what did they know? They were never the smartest of beasts were they? They could never match our intellect nor understand, let alone equal, the amazing advances we have made in so short a space of time could they?
No, they couldn’t, they didn’t.
Why, we have Google and Yahoo and MSN.
We are, without a shadow of a doubt, the smartest mammals on this planet. The brightest of primates.

How come we keep fucking up then?

Oh, come on now, you know we do.

With all our mind boggling technological advances, with all the ground breaking medical discoveries we have made, with all our wit and wisdom we still haven’t been able to shake off our tribal instincts nor indeed the primitive urge to be King of the jungle. And boy what a jungle! We leave one jungle behind only to create another. A sophisticated network of industry and commerce that the bigger monkeys can swing from with their white collars and Mercedes mentalities. A system of living that is held together by a fragile belief in self betterment that is shackled to the society we have wrapped our selves in and kept together by the increasing pressures of need and greed.

With one flick of the switch it could all fall apart.

Of course, we have no one to blame but ourselves do we?
After all, when push comes to shove, when was the last time any of us tried to make a change?

Now do not give me that system shite.

We created the system.

We maintain the system.

We ARE the system.

And do not go blaming it on ‘them’.
You know who I mean.
Our politicians and successive governments. (They all smell the same to me.)

Isn’t it time to take responsibility for our actions, or lack of them, and stop blaming it all on some other convenient whipping boy.

Come on people, it has been one hundred thousand years since we swung down from the trees and fell in a rut.

Shouldn’t we try to climb out of that rut now?

the process

Be...Do...Have
Be peace, do peaceful things, have peace.
Spread this every day, in every way.

What is our goal here? Let's make a plan of action.

Thursday of last week, a neighbour of my eighty four year old Mother's, called upon her asking for assistance. Another neighbour, bed bound and disabled was concerned that her husband hadn't responded to her calls. My Mum, along with the other neighbour wnet over to see if they could help.
They entered what appeared to be a scene from a horror film with lumps growing on the floor, cobwebs spun heavy and hanging from the ceiling. A thick coat of crease was over the kitchen surfaces and the ladies husband lay dead upon the sofa. He was eighty six and alchoholic. He lay with one eye still open as keeping watch from beyond the grave. His hands had been withered by arthritis which may have been the reason that the house was in such a mess. Even the bath had cobwebs trailing.
Ironically my Mother, a salvationist, each and every year would call upon the couple giving them a Christams gift from the Sally Army and she and her officers would ask if there was anything they could do to help. The couple always politetly thanked them but always said no.
Unbelieavably sad that even in this day and age, and with a welfare state, two people could so easily fall into such a state of dirt and decay. No one should have to live like that any more.

Moving The Energy

Energy is constant, in that it is always moving. Sometimes, it is simply moving in place, but moving all the same. There is nothing that isn't moving at all times.

In order to effect change, we must have forward movement. The energy must not stay in place, where it may appear to become static... or stagnant.

If we want to effect change, we must BE the change... in all that we say and do. If we want Peace, we must demonstrate Peace... we must BE Peace. If we want there to be equality, we must demonstrate equality in the ways that we speak and interact with our brothers and sisters. If we want prejudices to cease to exist, we must stop demonstrating prejudiced ways of thinking and speaking, living and being... in all phases of our existence, not just when it is convenient for our ever temporal, constantly changing, mindless thinking.

If you say, "I hate you," I say, "I love you." If you do not like my religion, instead of criticizing your own, or lack, thereof, I notice the color of your eyes... how beautiful the eyes of our Creator. If you think I am over weight , I feel fortunate that I am not starving, instead of focusing on your missing teeth. If I judge your moral standard, I hope you will forgive my lack of compassion towards the history that you may have lived. If I meet my brother or sister on the street, and their flame is sadly waning, I will give a little of my own, in order to rejuvenate theirs... because I have the knowledge that my own will be sustained by the Universe, as it is the law and order of things. Instead of worrying about what we don't have, let us be grateful for what we do have. Instead of worrying about what we might not have, if we lovingly sacrifice something, let us worry about what our brother or sister might need, in that very same moment.

In order to move the energy, let us first begin with ourselves, in changing our thought processes. What we give out, is what expands outwardly in the Universe, by the ripple effect... by that same token, what we allow in, is what expands in our own heart. Let us be mindful of both these things. If we allow hate in, it stirs up our own negative energy, and must be released, somehow... be a guard to the door of your own Heart. If we must release the energy, let us transform it, first... into something called Love.

What do you want from life?

What do you want from life
To kidnap an heiress
or threaten her with a knife
What do you want from life
To get cable TV
and watch it every night

There you sit
a lump in your chair
Where do you sleep
and what do you wear
when you're sleeping

What do you want from life
An Indian guru
to show you the inner light
What do you want from life
a meaningless love affair
with a girl that you met tonight

How can you tell when you're doin' alright
Does your bank account swell
While you're dreaming at night
How do know when you're really in love
Do violins play when you're touching the one
That you're loving

What do you want from life
Someone to love
and somebody that you can trust
What do you want from life
To try and be happy
while you do the nasty things you must

Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen
you are entitled to:
a heated kidney shaped pool,
a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook,
a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of

your own home,
a king-size Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,
a year's supply of antibiotics,
a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number,
a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick,
Rosemary's baby,
a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams,
a new Matador, a new mastodon,
a Maverick, a Mustang, a Montego,
a Merc Montclair, a Mark IV, a meteor,
a Mercedes, an MG, or a Malibu,
a Mort Moriarty, a Maserati, a Mac truck,
a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped,
a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away,
or how about a McCulloch chainsaw,
a Las Vegas wedding,
a Mexican divorce,
a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot,
or a baby's arm holding an apple?.................The Tubes.

Talk to strangers

I recommend.......talking to strangers.

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'universe', a part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest
- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affectation for a few people near us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion
to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Albert Einstein
