Romans 12

Remember Romans 12:19-21........where we are admonished not to seek vengeance........retribution is beyond the purview of Man.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

God made Man in His image.......but then.......Man made God in his image.

funny you should take this particular scripture Oberon - which has puzzled me for many years as i wonder (still) how you love someone by heaping coals on their head (?!)

it reveals to me the conundrum of Paul - the guy must have been a powerhouse eh? i would have liked to know him, and i say this remembering 'thorns in the flesh' and 'the man is the head of the woman' etc. etc which the Republicans (and others of the Great Repressed) love to preach on :-)

Christ does not offer conundrums - but Paul did

thanks for reminding me of this, be well, David.

.....there is no "enemy"....if someone perceives you as their enemy, then doing "good" to them destroys, ("heap coals of fire") their "perception" that you are the "enemy".

.....abe lincoln said....the best way to destroy an enemy is to make him your friend.

....."kill" them with kindness is another way to say it.

you do not seem to be taking my point - this is a bit of 'deconstruction of the text' as they say, i understand the text itself, now i am looking at the images tht are used to make it up - standing back two paces as it were, and the idea of loving someone by heaping coals on their head is ... well, not very loving :-)

try this, imagine another way of putting it - say, "... and this will change their hearts" instead of "... will heap coals on their heads"

do you see what i mean?

be well.
