watching and listening to Nina Simone at Montreux in 1976 is a heartbreaker, she opens with Little Girl Blue subtly merged with the tune of Good King Wenceslas ... if christianity had a backbone it would be the Good Samaritan aka Wenceslas ... and knowing that Nina was a preacher's child it is not hard to imagine her being taught these things and believing them
they propped her up on some kind of drugs, lithium probably in those days, and she lived until the early oughts, but it seeems to me that it might have been better just to admit that Wenceslas & our Samaritan have not been truely on the scene for a long long time ...
